Amphibians: how toads and frogs compare and differ as amphibians

Many young children, more specifically preschoolers, may think that frogs and toads are the same because they look the same.  When teaching children to distinguish between the two, it is good to start with the idea that both frogs and toads live on both land and water as “amphibians.”  Starting with this key characteristics, the graphic web goes on to illustrate three characteristics individual to a frog and a toad.  Finally, after children see these differences, the graphic web shows how the frog and toad connect with the four commonalities they share.   Hopefully, the children will come away from this lesson with a better understanding of amphibians as well as frogs and toads. inspirationfinal2
